Greenwood Park

Our flagship project Greenwood Park, which was started in 1964 by a group of Harare Round Table No.1 members, and is an ongoing project which is still run by RT1, as both a community service and as a method of raising funds for charity. The park is an exhilarating place for children and the young at heart and is open Wednesday to Sunday, and Public Holidays, from 08:00am to 4:30pm.

Many are familiar with the Park from their childhood days, which has continued to run through the many challenging year of recent times, thanks to the support of RT1, the staff at Greenwood Park and the various sponsors over the years. The park is run on a sustainable basis, where profits generated in previous years have gone towards charity. The park unfortunately has fallen on hard times due to the harsh economic climate, which has affected the majority of people in particular the traditional market source of the park, namely the public in and around the avenues as well as a vast number of government schools in and around Harare, as well as Schools from as far flung as Chinhoyi and Bindura, who bring school trips to the park.

Project Proposal

Given the circumstances at the park, RT1 have decided to embark on a drive to find a strategic sponsor/partner for Greenwood Park (GWP) in an effort to uplift and promote the park through these challenging times. The objective is to identify either one major sponsor (corporate or otherwise) or a small number of sponsors who can bring the necessary value to the table in an effort to maintain and promote the park.

In return the sponsors will stand to benefit through a number of social responsibility programs / projects we intend to implement along with our new sponsor/s. Similar in away as we have done with the annual Spar “Family Fun Run” for Childline. Where the sponsor stands to gain not only advertising through the park, but also has the opportunity to jointly run events and or programs which involve the public and or community projects & services which stand to benefit the less privileged which in many cases with our projects are the orphans and elderly in our communities, but not exclusive too. There are endless ideas and opportunities which we can go through with a corporate sponsor who has a genuine interest in their social responsibility. Another added benefit for large corporations is the potential benefit to their employees which could be another sound spin off.

Conclusion

We believe we have a great opportunity for a sponsor to partner with us in our efforts to make a difference in our communities. Either for the short or longer term.
